COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR


JOB DESCRIPTION:

Motiv is seeking a highly driven and enthusiastic Communications Coordinator to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate should have a strong interest in Marketing/PR tied to entertainment, fandom/geek culture, the creator economy, digital media, emerging technology, video games, and pop culture. As a  Communications Coordinator, you will play a key role in supporting marketing and PR campaigns and executing creative strategies that resonate with fans and audiences. This position is remote but required to be located in California, contractor/part-time, and a reliable computer, web camera, and strong internet connection are required.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Campaign Support:

  • Track and report on media coverage, social media performance, and other campaign metrics.

  • Populate and maintain databases for press and partner contacts.

  • Assist in servicing clients across various industries as outlined in the JD.

Media Relations:

  • Research and compile targeted media lists to identify opportunities for client coverage.

  • Draft, route, and distribute press releases, pitches, media alerts, and other PR materials.

  • Build and maintain relationships with media contacts and influencers.

Creative Collaboration:

  • Participate in and contribute to brainstorming sessions to develop fresh and creative marketing and communications approaches, both internally (Motiv) and externally (with clients). 

Event & Calendar Management:

  • Utilize Asana for project management, keeping track of all clients and projects to ensure accurate timelines and deliverables. 

  • Track key campaign milestones.

  • Coordinate logistics for press and client-related events, as needed.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Experience & Education:

  • 1-2 years of experience in communications (agency, studio, or entertainment experience preferred).

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or a related field preferred.

Core Skills:

  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

  • Attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.

  • Proficiency in Google Suite and familiarity with media tracking tools and databases.

Industry Knowledge:

  • A passion for and understanding of entertainment, gaming, geek/fandom, and pop culture.

  • Familiarity with trends in these industries, media outlets, and journalists.

Personal Attributes:

  • Enthusiastic, proactive, and resourceful.

  • Able to adapt to shifting priorities and anticipate team needs.

  • Collaborative mindset with a strong desire to learn and grow in the Marketing/PR field.
